CDR John Alford, USN EOD (ret) served 22 years in a variety of surface warfare, EOD, mine countermeasures (MCM) and maritime homeland security and defense positions before retiring in 2010. Initially after retiring he worked as a Counter-Improvised Explosive Device (C-IED) intelligence fusion analyst and instructional team lead/master instructor for EOD, special forces and intelligence cadre pre-deployment training in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. In 2016 he was the MCM subject matter expert on the team that developed the Interagency Underwater Port Assessment for NORTHCOM and the Navy/Coast Guard and inter-agency port security community. Since 2018 he has been the Team Lead and senior advisor for the IUPA program as a defense contractor.
