Julio R. Gonzalez is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Sentinel Resilience Group (SRG), a premier consulting firm dedicated to strengthening the security and resilience of critical infrastructure across the United States. Under his leadership, SRG delivers strategic advisory services including physical and cybersecurity vulnerability assessments, security and emergency management planning, executive-level training, and tailored exercises for both public and private sector partners.
A recognized national leader in critical infrastructure protection, Mr. Gonzalez brings over two decades of senior experience in homeland security, emergency management, and operational risk. Prior to founding SRG, he retired from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), culminating a distinguished 24-year federal career. Most recently, he served as the Supervisory Protective Security Advisor (SPSA) for CISA Region 6, where he led the Protective Security Advisor program across the Gulf Coast, directing initiatives that safeguarded some of the nation’s most vital assets.
Mr. Gonzalez is a subject matter expert in infrastructure security, risk mitigation, and interagency coordination. He has led hundreds of physical and cybersecurity assessments and has provided strategic guidance to critical infrastructure operators in sectors ranging from energy and transportation to healthcare and maritime. His expertise bridges technical assessment with strategic planning, helping stakeholders build resilience in the face of evolving threats.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Gonzalez served with distinction in the U.S. Coast Guard, both as a Port Security Specialist and as a Commissioned Officer. His responsibilities spanned regional security planning, recovery operations, port risk assessments, and maritime law enforcement. He played pivotal roles in response efforts for major incidents including hurricanes, oil spills, and national security events.
Mr. Gonzalez holds a Master of Science in Strategic Leadership from Mountain State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Education from the University of Puerto Rico. He is also a graduate of the prestigious Senior Executive Fellows Program at the Harvard Kennedy School. His accolades include the U.S. Coast Guard Commendation Medal, Achievement Medal, and the Civilian Service Commendation Medal, reflecting a career marked by service, leadership, and impact.
Bilingual in English and Spanish, Mr. Gonzalez is originally from San Juan, Puerto Rico. He continues to champion national resilience by advising executive leaders, facilitating public-private collaboration, and shaping strategies that protect our most critical systems.
