Brendan Applegate is the Lead for Fleet Experimentation and Exercises for the Naval Surface Warfare Center’s Port Hueneme Division. In this role, he serves the Chief Technology Officer as an interface between the Fleet, the Warfare Center’s science and technology/research and development communities, and developing technologies in the private sector. Brendan is the Principal Investigator for the Advanced Naval Technology Exercise, or “ANTX”-Coastal Trident program, which he has led since 2011. ANTX-Coastal Trident is the longest sustained ANTX program conducted by the Navy and focuses on identification of high-value opportunities for technology to assist the naval warfighter in addressing operational needs and maintaining a technical advantage.

Brendan is a recognized expert in systems engineering and test and evaluation, having worked extensively for the U.S. Navy in areas of failure analysis and corrective action, performance assessment and evaluation, operational test planning and execution, and Fleet training. Brendan received his B.S. from the University of California, Santa Barbara and holds an M.S. in Systems Engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School and an M.A. in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College.
